On December 9th, the Civic Center of the Campus-Headquarters of the University of Caxias do Sul will once again host one of the biggest Christmas events in the region. Family Christmas, a traditional end-of-year gathering between students, teachers, staff and the community, will provide moments of magic and enchantment through music, performing arts, a fireworks show and the arrival of Santa Claus. The free event takes place from 7pm – in case of rain, it will be transferred to the Community Center.
In its 9th edition, UCS Family Christmas is consolidated as a spectacle that provides an important moment of culture, fraternization and excitement for the community. This year’s edition will feature a performance by the Academic Orchestra and the UCS Choir, who will perform classic and popular Christmas songs, conducted by maestro Gilberto Salvagni, with Karina Dante as soloist.
The staging of Auto Natal will be carried out by the CETEC theater group, which will perform excerpts in Natividade under the scenic coordination of actress Tina Andrighetti. The narration will be voiced by the conductor of the UCS Choir, Renato Filippini. The artistic direction of the presentations is signed by maestro Fábio Alves.
The climate of expectation for the event is shared by the members of the Academic Orchestra and the UCS Choir. After all, it will be their first performance in front of a large audience as expected. The Academic Orchestra was formed in 2022, as an Extension activity, and today has 40 string and wind instrumentalists, able to perform Chamber Music. For the performance on the 9th, the ensemble will have the support of the Municipal Wind Orchestra. The Choir was founded in 1968 and remained active until 2019, when it was deactivated. In 2023, the group resumed, with a new line-up that made its grand debut at the Christmas show.
Family Christmas is organized by the University of Caxias do Sul, with support from the Association of Administrators of the Northeast Region of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (Aanergs), Chamber of Store Managers of Caxias do Sul (CDL Caxias), Association of Managers Christians from Companies of Caxias do Sul (ADCE), Roseta Filmes, Lions EDUC Caxias, Association of Teachers of the University of Caxias do Sul (ADUCS), Sicredi Cooperucs, RPP Construtora and Unimed Nordeste-RS.
