Canoas Civil Defense is carrying out intensive monitoring in the city’s riverside areas. According to the Climate Resilience Office (Eclima), last Saturday (18), until noon, around 82 millimeters of rain were recorded in some parts of the city. The São Luís neighborhood had the highest rainfall (58.4 mm), followed by Mathias Velho (56.0 mm), Marechal Rondon (54.0 mm), Estância Velha (49.8 mm) and Rio Branco (48.4 mm). mm).
Aristeu Ismailow, Chief Secretary of Eclima, highlighted that the western part of the city, where the Rio dos Sinos basin is located, is the area of greatest concern due to the presence of riverside populations. Next Monday (20), Civil Defense will carry out humanitarian actions in various parts of the city, with a special focus on Praia do Paquetá and Rua da Barca. Other riverside areas, such as Prainha in Mato Grande, Fazendinha and Rua Berto Círio, are also being monitored by agents.

The Municipal Guard (GM) of Canoas is also on standby on telephone 153 , while problems on the road can be reported to the Traffic Directorate, on number 156.
The gyms at EMEFs Paulo VI and Thiago Würth are prepared to receive families who may be homeless or displaced due to the rains.
