A 27-year-old woman discovered a surgical forceps in her pelvic region after passing through the metal detector at the Provisional Detention Center (CDP) of São José do Rio Preto, in the interior of São Paulo, last Sunday, 12. She was taken to a hospital to perform an x-ray, and the presence of the object was confirmed. The information is from TV TEM.
The victim, whose identity was not revealed, was hospitalized on Monday, 13th, at Santa Casa de Araçatuba, to remove the instrument.
The hospital is the same one where, three months ago, she had undergone surgery to remove a non-viable embryo from her tubes. The hypothesis is that the object was ‘forgotten’ during surgery.
The management of Santa Casa de Araçatuba states that “the hospital has specific protocols so that surgical procedures are carried out safely for patients” and that an investigation has already begun to investigate the case.
