A 19-year-old waiter found a scorpion frozen inside a lemon popsicle that he bought with his brother at an ice cream shop in Ribeirão Preto, SP, late Monday afternoon (23). According to g1, the case took place in the Castelo Branco neighborhood, in the east of the city.
After consuming four of the five popsicles with different flavors, the lemon one came with an unpleasant surprise. The scorpion was frozen and was only noticed when the young man opened the package.
The boy’s brother, Jonatthan Marllon Espinola Reganham, told g1 that the two bought the ice creams because of the strong heat wave hitting Ribeirão.
“My brother opened the popsicle packaging and said there was a scorpion inside, I laughed and said it was a lie. When I looked closely I saw that it was serious and we were scared. I thought that, if the others had them too, we wouldn’t notice, because they were darker.”
Jonatthan also said that he went with his brother to the ice cream shop and, when they showed the ice cream to the attendant, she was also surprised.
The two chose not to file a police report.
“I didn’t think of anything to harm them, even though it was dangerous. I didn’t register anything, because it’s a simple place.”
