On Sunday (10/22), the 4th edition of the Pedal Caxias Challenge took place, in Terceira Légua, with structure at SER Associação Randoncorp. The event, organized by the Municipal Department of Sport and Leisure (Smel) in partnership with the União dos Ciclistas Caxienses (Unicca), brought together 310 participants. The edition had a new format and offered three routes: Family (8km, 200m altitude and no trails); Sport Route (25km, 750m of altitude and four trails) and the Pro Route (30km, 900m of elevation and four trails). To the delight of the children, the event also offered the Kids route, divided into three subcategories: Balance (balance bike); Wheels (bicycle with training wheels) and Bicycle up to 14 inches (without training wheels for participants up to seven years old).
In the new format, Patrícia Ebertz, 47 years old, João Carlos Ebertz, 53 years old, and their daughter Manuela Alice Ebertz, six years old, managed to participate together. Patrícia, who completed destinations in the second edition of the Desafio Pedal Caxias, in 2021, when she had just started cycling, says that she feels happy to be able to participate as a family. “The husband takes a more sporty route and I’m pulling her along in the car,” she commented, smiling. João Carlos, who participated in the second edition with his wife, spoke about the new format. “I thought it turned out really cool. A wonderful day! Those who didn’t come lost,” he added. Little Manu said that she is riding a bike without the training wheels. “I’m learning and I think it’s going to be really cool”, she concluded.
“I think they have overcome the limits of all the challenges so far. Many are returning to cycling, we see that, and at the same time they are able to visit a beautiful region. That’s the pedal”, commented Cleder Cleiton Palavro, 42 years old, who had already participated in two previous editions.

The event also aimed to help Casa Anjos Voluntários, which currently serves more than 200 children on a voluntary basis. The entire amount raised from sales made by the entity was donated to the cause.
The edition had the following supporters: Matrtric, Orquídea, Pavos Brassaria, Perfilmaq, Agência Moça, Municipal Autonomous Water and Sewage System (Samae), Municipal Guard, Municipal Secretariats of Traffic, Transport and Mobility (SMTTM), Health (SMS), Culture (SMC), and Housing (SMH); Randoncorp Association, Magretta, Fator Contabilidade, Flex Nutrition and Vinícola Aliança.
