Henrique Bastide Municipal Library celebrates 85 years with cultural events – Revista News

A he celebration of the 85th anniversary of the Henrique Bastide Municipal Library was full of activities at Largo da Locomotiva, on Avenida Presidente Vargas, Bairro Nossa Senhora de Fátima, this Saturday afternoon (21). Those who passed by witnessed the art exhibition, a book thrift store run by Associação Amigos da Biblioteca, a clothing thrift store run by Coletivo Pura Traça, as well as being able to witness the launch of the book Coletânea Mágica, by Casa do Poeta de Santa Maria, and much more. Birthday celebration activities continue until October 31st.

According to the employee at the Department of Culture who organized the event’s programming, Rosângela Rechia, the attractions were designed to attract the largest possible audience:

“Since October 3rd, we have had several attractions here at the Library and Municipal Historical Archive, such as games and lectures for schools in the Municipal Education Network. Our main objective was to create a diverse schedule that enriched this moment.”

The children let their imagination flow through drawings with cartoonist Byrata Lopes, while, on the ground floor of the Library, the Academia Santa-Mariense de Letras distributed some literary works. There was also the launch of “Coletânea Mágica”, by Casa do Poeta. The organizer of the work and president, Denise Reis, explains why it was launched on this occasion.

“Our intention was to launch the book during Children’s Month because it is a children’s book. The Library itself celebrates its birthday on October 12th, Children’s Day. So, everything came together very well”, says Denise about the book that included the participation of 23 authors.

Around Largo da Locomotiva, Coletivo Pura Traça brought together thrift stores with affordable clothing, footwear and accessories. The Santa Maria Art Museum (Masm) and the Association of Plastic Artists exhibited their paintings to the public.
