O III Meeting of Audiovisual Ideas, which takes place at the Cinemateca Brasileira and includes the VII Fórum Mostra, the VII Da Palavra à Imagem and the II Mercado, has five book launches in its program. Among them are two works that celebrate the works of two great names in Brazilian criticism: “Inácio Araujo: Olhos Livres para Ver”, organized by Sérgio Alpendre and Laura Loguercio Cánepa, and “A Arte da Crítica”, by Luiz Zanin Oricchio.
“Inácio Araujo: Free Eyes to See”, by Edições Sesc, will be released on October 26th, at 3 pm. It is a tribute book that brings together various texts by the critic and articles by researchers, teachers and cultural producers that examine Inácio Araújo’s four-decade trajectory as a journalist, filmmaker, writer and teacher. The launch event will feature a chat between Inácio Araujo and Sérgio Alpendre, mediated by Neusa Barbosa. After the conversation, there will be an autograph session with the honoree and the organizer of the work.
On the same day, at 5:30 pm, it is time for the launch of “The Art of Criticism”, a publication that launches the Lumière label, from the publisher Letramento, dedicated to the seventh art. The work brings important reflections on criticism and was composed by Luiz Zanin Oricchio based on his experience of more than 30 years working for the newspaper “O Estado de São Paulo”. Zanin, who has covered dozens of festivals in the country and abroad, seeks to answer, with writing that is both light and elaborate, fundamental questions about the exercise of criticism.
The book “Judoca” (published by Fósforo), by Thierry Frémaux, will also be launched during the Exhibition on October 27th. In the work, the director of the Cannes Festival and the Lumière Institute presents himself, summarizing his transition from sport to the seventh art and the deep relationship between the two.
On October 28th, “O Filme Perdido” (published by Companhia das Letras), by Cesar Gananian and Chico França, will be released. The comic imagines a film that would have been shot over 100 years by filmmakers from different times and places. The works from the graphic novel are also exhibited at Cinesesc. And, on the same day, the 4th edition “De Longe Toda Serra É Azul” (publisher Kelps), by Fernando Schiavini, a memoir by the indigenist and writer, will be launched. The film of the same name based on the work is part of the program for the 47th Mostra.
