The Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra (OSPA) presents the Solidarity Concert in Encantado on Friday (27). The event takes place at 8pm at Igreja Matriz São Pedro with the aim of collecting donations for the families who suffered most from the floods that devastated the city in September. Therefore, the ticket for the event will be 1kg of non-perishable food.
Held by OSPA in partnership with the Municipality of Encantado and the State Secretariat for Culture (Sedac-RS), the Solidarity Concert is a special presentation of the OSPA Interior Series – which promotes the circulation of concert music throughout Rio Grande do Sul and this year has already taken the symphony to Cachoeirinha and Novo Hamburgo.
Under the baton of Matté, the Orchestra performs an eclectic collection of songs from the symphonic and operatic repertoire. In addition to the instrumental works, the program includes pieces that will be performed by the lyrical singer Maria Clara Vieira, member of the Ópera Estúdio project, from Sedac-RS. In her debut with OSPA, the soprano will sing three arias from famous operas that put her in the shoes of great characters.
The instrumental part of the concert brings together opera overtures and other pieces that are currently part of the popular imagination, such as “Radetzky March”, by Johann Strauss I (1804 – 1849), “Gold and Silver Waltz”, by Franz Lehár (1870 – 1948 ) and “Hungarian Dance nº 1”, by Johannes Brahms (1833 – 1897). The Brazilian repertoire includes “Episódio Sinfônico”, by Antônio Francisco Braga (1868 – 1945), and “Danças Gaúchas”, a work that combines typical melodies from Rio Grande do Sul composed by Alfred Hülsberg (1927 – 2001), a German musician. who was part of OSPA for many years.
