A doctor was attacked with a hammer by a patient companion in Irati, Paraná, on Wednesday afternoon (18).
The health professional allegedly asked the attacker’s wife to lift her blouse as part of the prenatal examination, which the man interpreted as abuse.
A video obtained by Gazeta Brasil shows the moment the doctor opens the office door and the 18-year-old takes the hammer out of his pocket to attack the professional.
The doctor was injured in the head, was rescued and taken to hospital, but has since been discharged. The attacker was detained by the Military Police, with support from the Municipal Guard.
The suspect was accompanying his companion and was arrested by the Military Police (PM), with support from the Municipal Guard. The young man’s name was not revealed.
According to the Municipal Health Department, a witness reported that the attack happened after a prenatal exam.
The doctor reportedly asked the suspect’s companion to take off part of her blouse to measure the circumference of her belly. The young man was together at the time of the exam, according to the Department of Health.
After the procedure, when they were outside the office, the young man allegedly said that the doctor abused his wife during the examination, a witness reported to the health department.
According to the PM, the suspect is 18 years old and was taken to the Civil Police station, which will investigate the case.
