Canoas City Hall began a joint effort this Wednesday (18) to clean poles where telephone wires are in disuse or in inadequate installation conditions. The action began on Avenida Rio Grande do Sul, in the Mathias Velho neighborhood.
The initiative is the result of an agreement signed between City Hall, RGE and telecommunications companies. The Department of Urban Services (SMSU) prepared a schedule of cleaning actions in all quadrants of the city and asked the electricity concessionaire to call on companies that have contracts for the use of their poles to attend the joint effort, making them aware that the City Hall will proceed with cutting the wires if there is no solution to the problem.
The measure is supported by recent municipal legislation. Municipal law No. 6,653, of July 6, 2023, sanctioned by Mayor Jairo Jorge, provides for the mandatory removal of unused surplus wiring from poles by companies and concessionaires that provide fixed telephony, electricity, cable television, broadband or other service through the air network.
