ASICS and the Senna brand come together for the third time to present the new collection in honor of three-time world champion driver Ayrton Senna. The silhouette chosen for this launch was the GEL-Nimbus 25 and the model’s colors were inspired by the car in which Ayrton stayed for six seasons and won the Formula 1 world championship three times.
At the 1988 Japanese Grand Prix, Ayrton Senna started from pole position at the Suzuka circuit, but had a problem at the start. The driver had to advance from 14th place to the lead, when he overtook Alain Prost, his opponent in the title fight that year, to win the race and win the first of his three Formula 1 championships.
Every detail of the shoe brings a special element to the driver’s fans. The ASICS stripes on the side gained a texture that alludes to rain tires, referring to one of Senna’s main characteristics – his superior ability to drive on wet tracks.
The grosgrain features the colors of the helmet and the tongue label on the right side has the Senna Brand logo and one of the driver’s most striking phrases on the back: “If you no longer go for a gap that exists, you are no longer a racing driver”. The label on the left features the ASICS logo and on the back the brand’s slogan “Sound Mind, Sound Body”. The Senna Brand slogan “Seek Your Truth”, which means “Seek Your Truth”, is present on the left foot of the sneaker.
Senna’s “S” was inserted into the heel puller in reflective material. The silhouette also received the name “Ayrton Senna” written in Japanese on the heel tape of the left foot and behind the ASICS stripe, reinforcing the connection with Japan, which unites the origin of the ASICS brand with the country where Senna has an audience. faithful to this day. Another detail is the insole that has carbon fiber graphics, a material widely used in F1 cars.
The clothing collection consists of a t-shirt, shorts, cap and socks. Following the same inspiration, the SENNA polyamide t-shirt, in addition to having the ASICS and Brand Senna logos printed on the chest, also has Japanese characters written “Ayrton Senna” on the side, reinforcing the connection with the country of origin of ASICS and the great pilot’s fan base in Japan. The right sleeve has the words “Seek Your Truth”. The SENNA shorts have the same words on the right side of the leg.
The SENNA sock is made of 96% Polyamide and 4% Elastane. And the SENNA Cap is made from lightweight fabric with a mesh side panel to provide more breathability during the run. The ASICS and Marca Senna logos appear on the front with the phrase “Seek Your Truth” on the left side.
