Cade approval for the acquisition of DPA – The Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade) gave the green light for Lactalis do Brasil to acquire DPA Brasil, a joint venture between Fonterra and Nestlé. The decision, announced on October 11, 2023, allows Lactalis to take over two distribution centers and factories in Araras (SP) and Garanhuns (PE), in addition to the manufacturing and distribution of Chambinho, Chamyto and Chandelle products.
Licensing agreement with Tirol Group
To ensure Cade’s approval, Lactalis do Brasil agreed to license the production of Batavo brand fermented milk and Batavinho petit suisse to the Tirol group. The licensing agreement, which should be formalized soon, is expected to last seven years, with the possibility of extension for a further three.
Strengthening the productive sector
Patrick Sauvageot, president of Lactalis for Brazil and the Southern Cone, sees the acquisition as an important step to strengthen the entire production sector. It reinforces the company’s commitment to the development of Brazil and expresses its vision that the national dairy sector needs a strong and responsible leader.
Towards global leadership
With this acquisition, Lactalis do Brasil is ready to take Brazilian milk to a new level on the world market. As a world leader in the dairy chain, Lactalis has expertise, experience and investment capacity to improve the efficiency and productivity of the sector.
With Cade’s approval, the path is open for the conclusion of negotiations.
