In São Leopoldo, patients admitted to the pediatrics department at Hospital Centenário had moments of relaxation and joy this Wednesday, the 11th. The Visita Pet project allowed three dogs, a rooster and a cockatiel to meet with patients and staff, bringing moments of lightness for hospital routine.
The visit, promoted in honor of Children’s Day, aimed to assist in the rehabilitation process for hospitalized patients. According to the director of nursing at Hospital Centenário, Fernanda Estrella, the idea is for the project to take place every 15 days, as happened before the pandemic. “There are several studies that show that coexistence with animals helps to improve the well-being of hospitalized patients, improving their health”, explains the nurse.
The dogs were prepared with all the necessary care, such as baths, flea treatments and vaccinations by Sempa in partnership with the Central Animal Pet veterinary clinic.
