The Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association (ABSOLAR) will bring together, on October 17th, in Porto Alegre (RS), businesspeople, consultants, public authorities and experts for a series of debates on advances and challenges of solar energy in the South and in the country. This is the ABSOLAR Meeting Sulan event that discusses new business and investment opportunities for companies in the sector, both nationally and in regional development.

According to data from ABSOLAR, Rio Grande do Sul is among the three Brazilian states with the highest installed capacity of solar energy in its own generation on roofs, facades and small plots of land. The region has just surpassed 2.2 gigawatts (GW) in operation in homes, businesses, industries, rural properties and public buildings.
The state has more than 262,500 operational connections, spread across 497 municipalities, or 100% of the 497 municipalities in the region. There are currently more than 351 thousand electricity consumers who already have a reduction in their electricity bill, greater autonomy and electrical reliability.
Since 2012, its own generation of solar energy has enabled Rio Grande do Sul to attract more than R$12.2 billion in investments, generate 70,000 jobs and raise more than R$3.1 billion for public coffers. .
