Randoncorp inaugurated a photovoltaic plant next to the Randon Technological Center (CTR), in Farroupilha (RS), this Friday (6). The ceremony brought together members of the company’s executive committee and the Randon family, in addition to the teams dedicated to developing the project.
The structure is made up of around 2,400 solar panels and has the capacity to generate 1.3MWp (1.3 megawatt-peak), a volume sufficient to meet the current and future energy demand of the CTR itself.
Furthermore, 30% of the energy generated by the plant will be used in the Randon Expedition area, located in the group’s industrial complex in the Interlagos neighborhood, in Caxias do Sul. The investment in the project based in Farroupilha was R$7.2 million. In total, the company plans to invest around R$100 million by 2030 in renewable energy initiatives, in line with the ESG commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions generated in the production process by 40%.
Another example of investments in renewable energy, already in operation, is the photovoltaic plant installed next to Fras-le Friction Material, in China, responsible for generating 20% of the energy consumed in that unit. Randon’s logistics center, opened in mid-2022, is also supplied with photovoltaic energy. This structure, measuring 9 thousand square meters, located in Caxias do Sul, received 102 solar panels on the roof of the structure, with an average generation of 7,000 kWh/month.
