This Friday (6/10), little Matteo, one of the sextuplets from Espírito Santo who was admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in a serious condition, died. The information was confirmed by the family through social media.
Théo, Matteo, Lucca, Henry, Maytê and Eloá were born last Sunday (1/10) in Colatina, Espírito Santo. The little ones’ mother Quezia Romualdo, 29 years old, had the help of 32 professionals to deliver the babies.
Since discovering she was pregnant, Quezia and her husband, Magdiel Costa, 31, have shared every step on Instagram. Also on social media, the family reported Matteo’s death.
“It is with great sadness that we inform you that God has taken little Matteo. God is sovereign, and his will is perfect. We can only be grateful for every precious moment we shared with him, even if it was brief”, said the family.
The São Bernardo Apart Hospital, where the children were hospitalized, reported that Matteo’s health worsened “due to extreme prematurity”. The babies were born at 27 weeks.

It is with great sadness that we inform you that God has collected little Matteo. God is sovereign, and his will is perfect. We can only be grateful for every precious moment we shared with him, even if it was brief. And we want to thank each and every one of you who took the time to put his life and that of our entire family in prayer.
We know the journey ahead will be challenging, and his absence will leave an immeasurable void in our hearts. However, we trust that God will give us the comfort we need to face this pain. Please continue praying for our family and we will talk to you as soon as possible, I just ask that you give us a little time to process everything that has been happening.
Rest in peace, dear Matteo. His memory will be eternal, and his presence will always be felt in our lives.
