The Civil Police, through the Viamão Police Station for the Repression of Organized Criminal Actions (Draco), launched Operation Recarga this Wednesday (4/10), with the aim of dismantling a large drug distribution scheme in the metropolitan region.
After three months of investigations and several monitoring measures, police officers found more than a ton of marijuana being unloaded in a carrier. 1,051 kilos of the drug were seized.
At the location, which is in the industrial region of São Leopoldo, the person responsible was arrested red-handed. The drug was transported to Rio Grande do Sul hidden in a load of corn grains.
According to delegate Guilherme Calderipe, it was discovered during the operation that a large part of the drugs would be sent to Gravataí and Cachoeirinha. Investigations continue to verify everyone involved in the scheme, who are linked to a criminal faction.
