On October 12th (Thursday), at 4pm, the Rio Grande do Sul Opera Company (CORS) and Fundação Theatro São Pedro present the children’s version of A Flauta Mágica at the Concha Acústica at Theatro São Pedro, in Porto Happy.
The Legend of the Magic Flute is a fable and an allegory to the trials that human beings must go through to achieve enlightenment and full fulfillment. The show features characters representing different aspects of the human psyche, which will delight the child within everyone.
Fable
In the montage, the Queen of the Night and her three ladies are banished from the City of Light, led by the priest Sarastro. In the forest where they live, Papageno also lives, a young man who hunts birds for them in exchange for food. One day, a stranger appears, Prince Tamino. The Ladies of the Night ask him to rescue Princess Pamina, daughter of the Queen of the Night, Sarastro’s prisoner in the City of Light. Tamino and Papageno join together on this rescue journey. Will they be able to free Pamina from Sarastro’s terrible clutches?
Librettist Emmanuel Schikaneder tells the story of this fun and exciting opera, while Mozart composes and brings to life the scenes that materialize before the audience’s eyes.
The Legend of the Magic Flute is the fourth production by CORS, financed by the Federal Culture Incentive Law and promoted by the Associação Amigos da Casa da Música and performed by the Associação Ópera do Rio Grande do Sul.
