With Y Eau de Parfum Intense, master perfumer Dominique Ropion puts a new spin on YSL’s masculine icon. Like a true fragrance rock star, the perfumer offers a deeper, more intense and woody interpretation of Y by subtly altering the balance and proportion of its ingredients.
The top notes of Y Eau de Parfum Intense feature a fresh and invigorating olfactory essence of blue juniper berries that resonate with the energy of spicy ginger, characteristic of the Y icon, and its pine facets reflect its even more woody aroma that runs through in the new variation.
To bring out the freshest and most seductive aromas of flowers, the fragrance brings heart notes of diva lavender and also offers a cool-sensual contrast, represented by geranium bourbon, with its freshness, and clary sage, with its aromatic warmth and amber.
Reinforcing its power and durability, a new star supports the base notes of Y Eau de Parfum Intense: patchouli, the fragrance’s quintessential note. For this edition, Dominique Ropion did not use any type of patchouli but rather a rich, woody essence from Bali, Indonesia. Finally, the strength of cedar oil and the primordial power of vetiver oil support its aromatic trail.

ESSENCE OF PATCHOULI, from Bali: Grown using traditional methods in the volcanic regions of Bangli and Gianyar on the island of Bali, the patchouli produced for YSL is sustainably sourced and has achieved “For Life” certification. Through optimized distillation parameters, combined with the specificity of the terroir, the brand produces an essential oil without the plant’s naturally camphorous notes. The woody, earthy and moist facets of this Bali patchouli oil bring depth and sensuality to fragrances.
