The School of Music of the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra (OSPA) will begin the selection of new students for the first semester of 2024. 58 places will be open to study, completely free of charge, various musical instruments, join the school’s youth orchestra or even practice singing in a choir.
Registration begins at 12pm on Monday, October 9th, and ends at 6pm on Friday, October 20th, using a form that will be made available in the school section of the website. site da OSPA.
At the OSPA School, students have the opportunity to learn from musicians who play in the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra, a foundation linked to the State Secretariat for Culture.
For the first half of 2024, vacancies will be open for twelve instruments: violin, viola, cello, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba and percussion. Interested parties must be at least 8 years old on March 4, 2024 (beginning of activities) and have the instrument relevant to the vacancy.
Additionally, candidates can sign up for the Children’s Choir (8 to 12 years old) or the Youth Choir (13 to 20 years old). The orchestra made up of students at the School, OSPA Jovem, also has vacancies open for practicing in bassoon and keyboard positions – to join the ensemble, candidates must be over 14 years old.
Classes will start on March 4, 2024, and take place at Palacinho (Av. Cristóvão Colombo, 300) and at Casa da OSPA (Av. Borges de Medeiros, 1.501), in Porto Alegre, distributed in morning, afternoon and night. There are vacancies for low-income people and people with disabilities. For all modalities, the prerequisite is being enrolled in regular education or having completed high school.
