‘and if it were silent…’ is the name of the solo exhibition by artist Cassia Aresta, which will be open to the public on Thursday, September 28th, at Helena Fretta Galeria de Arte, in Florianópolis. The exhibition, which presents new works that are different from those already created by the artist, opens at 7pm and entry is free.
Developed since the second half of 2022, the works that will be on display are all new and completed in 2023. “I started the research process last year and this year I produced the works exclusively for this exhibition”, explains the artist.
This is not the first time that the artist, who has more than 80 exhibitions on her CV, including solo and group exhibitions in Brazil and abroad, such as Germany and France, has participated in an exhibition at the Art Gallery, in which she is represented.
In ‘and if it were silence…, 30 works made in pencil on canvas and on different papers will be presented. The exhibition can be visited free of charge from Monday to Friday, from 10am to 6pm and on Saturdays, from 10am to 1pm, until November 11, at the Helena Fretta Galeria de Arte, located at Rua Presidente Coutinho, 532, in the center of Florianópolis.
Curated by Marcelo Salles
For this project, Cassia invited São Paulo critic and curator Marcelo Salles to work on the curatorship. Graduated in Architecture and Urbanism from Mackenzie University, Salles develops research independently in architectural theory, visual arts and curating.
The professional, who has curated several individual and group exhibitions on his CV, has created and directed the independent space Casa Contemporânea, in São Paulo, since 2009.
“I’m happy to present something completely new at Helena Fretta, which is an established name in Florianópolis and Santa Catarina. I’m sure it will be a beautiful exhibition”, adds Cassia.
