According to the Ministry of Agriculture, in July 2023, a task force made up of 16 federal agricultural tax auditors and Mapa agents was mobilized in the states of Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Goiás and the Federal District to combat fraud in coffee shops.
During the operation, a roasted and ground coffee factory in Minas Gerais was closed, and 20,312 kg of roasted and ground coffee were seized, in addition to 16,090 kg of irregular raw material, consisting of coffee with husks and sticks.
In this action, more than 26 brands were identified with signs of irregularities. Some of these brands are still in the analysis contestation phase.
