The record participation of samples – there were 295 – is an indication of the representativeness of the Competition for the Best Wines, Grape Juices and Sparkling Wines of Caxias do Sul, which reached its 26th edition. On Saturday night (23.09), representatives of the 39 participating wineries, authorities, guests and the press attended the awards event. Of the total, 90 samples were awarded, 12 with the Grand Gold Medal (scores above 93), 64 with the Gold Medal and 13 with the Silver. Also, in this edition there was the Pipa Destaque award, which went to the burgundy red table wine from Itália Granja e Vinícola.
The Competition is currently organized by a Committee that includes representatives from public authorities, Revinsul and wineries. The Committee representative, Luis Rossatto, highlighted the search for improvement in wineries. He also presented the new Contest logo, created by Agência Sacramento. “The participation of wineries and Revinsul is very important, because the competition is a tool for measuring quality and evaluation, also presenting opportunities for improvement. ”For the president of Revinsul, Gilda Tisatto, the sector’s autonomy is fundamental.
From the beginning, the partnership with public authorities was fundamental, especially with technicians from the Department of Agriculture, but it is also necessary for the sector to move forward with autonomy, and the creation of the Committee with the participation of wineries was an important step”.
All canteens received honorable mentions, in the case of samples with a score above 80, in accordance with the Competition regulations. However, since last year, adopting a more sustainable attitude, honorable mention certificates and trophies will no longer be printed on paper. The digital versions will be sent by email to the wineries, together with the scores obtained in the evaluation by the experts.
This year, the Competition had a special supporter who acted as an ambassador for Caxias wines: the writer José Clemente Pozenato, author of O Quatrilho.
The 26th Competition for the Best Wines, Grape Juices and Sparkling Wines of Caxias do Sul is organized by the City of Caxias do Sul, through the Municipal Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Revinsul – Caxias do Sul Winery Network and the Organizing Committee .
Among the authorities present were also the vice-mayor Paula Ioris, the representative of the City Council, Velocino Uez, the state deputy professor Claudio Branchieri, the Queen of the Festa Da Uva 2024 Lizandra Mello Chinali and the Princesses Eduarda Ruzzarin Menezes and Letícia De Carvalho , municipal secretaries and representatives of entities.
This edition of the competition was sponsored by Master Bocatti and Sicredi Pioneira.
