A Ferragamo’s Spring-Summer 2024 collection, designed by Maximilian Davis, is an exploration of the codes developed by the designer at the brand. With a distinct aesthetic, Davis brings an organic ease to his creation, based on the relationship between balance and tension. The collection seeks to bring a feeling of lightness both in terms of fabric and construction and in the way people want to dress.
Inspired by Italian and Caribbean Styles
By drawing parallels between Italian and Caribbean styles, the collection finds inspiration in the situated contrasts of Italy’s Arte Povera movement. This movement often positioned natural materials alongside industrial elements, elevating the everyday through thoughtful vision. For Spring-Summer 2024, the collection features modest linens and cottons treated with rigor, glued to satins or treated to look like leather. Sculptural wooden accessories and details are polished to perfection, while precise silhouettes are expressed in natural fabrics. The pieces are pure and honest, identifiable within a wardrobe, but interesting in terms of the touch of the hand.
Subversive Interaction between Containment and Freedom
Throughout the creative process, it is possible to observe a subversive interaction between containment and freedom. An insouciance is expressed in the distressed texture of leather tailoring, while immaculate mid-century tailoring is reduced to fluidity. Viscose drape, rooted in Ferragamo’s Florentine heritage and echoed in 18th-century Caribbean dresses, now appears combined with the language of Renaissance armor: spazzola leather bodices.
