Cipatex® now serves the clothing segment with the launch of the Vest line. The laminate manufacturer with a strong presence in the footwear sector identified the demand for leather-like and highly durable materials for making clothes, motivating the company to enter the sector.
According to Rafael Pilon, commercial director at Cipatex®, a large part of the laminates offered to the sector today are imported, especially from Asia. However, most do not have resistance to hydrolysis, which causes crumbling and premature degradation of the products. “We identified that this market has potential and we are able to produce resistant synthetic laminate that is very similar to leather. We can be a huge national supplier for apparel companies,” he explains. He hopes that in a few years the participation in the new segment will be as significant as that of footwear, which currently represents around 20% of the company’s revenue.
The high-performance polyurethane (PU) laminates produced by Cipatex® for clothing employ technology and innovation that provide aesthetic advantages, practicality in the sewing process, better fit and comfort, as well as durability. According to Geovane Boeno Garcia, from the company’s product development sector, the high resistance of the releases allows for a useful life of more than ten years without drying out or crumbling. “It is a great difference achieved based on intense research, testing and noble formulation”, he adds.
The Vest line has two types of laminates: one with a satin leather look, with more elasticity and fluidity, and another more structured, with a pearlescent surface and an appearance very similar to tailoring fabrics. The materials are versatile and have finishes and thicknesses that allow them to be used in the most varied styles of clothing, whether party, casual or fashion.
New line on the catwalk
The national launch of the line will be marked by a fashion show featuring wedding dresses made with the new materials and designed by Dief Gomes. The pieces will be part of the “Essential” collection from the designer’s studio who, during the event, will also celebrate ten years of creating his brand.
The fashion show will feature 33 new dresses, ten of which are produced using the new Cipatex® line. Materials in gold and off-white tones will appear in different cuts and styles, without beading or embroidery, exploring the possibilities that laminate alone can offer. Among the creations are body-hugging ones with volume at the hem, models with ruffles to give movement and fuller pieces. Flowers and bows made with the article itself add charm to productions.
The fashion show, which takes place on October 1st, at 5pm, in Tietê/SP, will be broadcast live on the channels diefgomesatelier on Instagram and Dief Gomes Atelier on YouTube.
