TUDOR globally launched the new Pelagos FXD model, which pays homage to the decades in which the brand’s watches were on the wrists of US Navy divers during their activities.
Equipped with fixed bars for a fabric bracelet, 42mm titanium case, high-performance manufacturing caliber, “Snowflake” hands, matte black dial and unidirectional rotating bezel with elapsed time indication, the watch defines the newest reinterpretation of the model “ Milsub” (combination of the words Military and Submariner).
The partnership between TUDOR and the Navy dates back to the mid-1950s, when TUDOR dive watches of the time were put to the test and evaluated by various units of the US Navy. In 1958, due to their proven effectiveness and precision, they were officially adopted by the navy, which acquired them with the aim of being used by divers from various units. Thus, the new Pelagos FXD appears as the heir to the military spirit of these watches.
The piece also incorporates elements specific to the North American navy for diving watches, such as the fixed bars and the fabric bracelet in a purely military style. It was common for the US Navy to provide its divers with TUDOR watches with fabric straps, typically one-piece made of nylon, black or green.
In this way, the Pelagos FXD’s two strap options refer to this tradition of military origin of equipping watches with fabric straps, but with a special touch. The one-piece green fabric strap with red central filament and contact closure system is the model’s main configuration, which also features an additional one-piece rubber strap with dark gray embossed fabric, thus reinterpreting this classic look. with modernity and subtlety.
