The dream of making the union official is closer for many couples in Caxias do Sul. The city’s City Hall, in partnership with other institutions, has extended registrations for Community Wedding 2023, which offers the opportunity to get married free of charge for those who have an income of up to 3.5 minimum wages.
How to participate
Registration is limited to 200 couples of any orientation and can be completed until October 11th. To register, you must submit the required documentation to the headquarters of the União das Associações de Bairro de Caxias do Sul (UAB) or to the district registry offices (see below for addresses and list of documents).
When and where the event will be
Community Wedding 2023 is scheduled for November 18th, starting at 1:30 pm, at the Vila Olímpica of the University of Caxias do Sul (UCS). The event, which reaches its 16th edition, is organized by the Caxias do Sul City Hall, through the Mayor’s Office, the UAB, the Court of Justice of Rio Grande do Sul (TJRS) and the Civil Registry offices, with the support of UCS.
Why participate
Community Marriage is an initiative that aims to promote social inclusion and strengthen family ties for low-income couples who wish to regularize their civil status. In addition to guaranteeing the legal rights of spouses and children, marriage can also bring emotional and affective benefits to the participants.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION:
Singles: updated birth certificate;
Divorced: marriage certificate updated with the endorsement of divorce and proof of the status of assets;
Widowers: updated marriage certificate, death certificate of the deceased spouse and copy of the sharing document, if the deceased left assets to be inventoried;
Minors: present the updated civil status certificate and appear at the registry office together with the parents or legal guardians or present the emancipation certificate. Document with photo and CPF of the bride and groom and witnesses.
