Cooperativism is a socioeconomic model that brings together more than one billion people and is responsible for about 100 million jobs around the world. In Rio Grande do Sul, the cooperative sector is made up of 444 cooperatives, which generate 54,000 jobs and earned BRL 81.9 billion in 2022. These numbers show the relevance of cooperativism in Rio Grande do Sul for the development of the state and the country.
To recognize and value journalistic work that disseminates the economic and social effects promoted by cooperativism in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, the Union and Organization of Cooperatives of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (Ocergs) promotes the 6th Cooperativism Gaúcho Journalism Award, one of the most recognized awards in the state press.
The contest has seven categories: Print Journalism, Television Journalism, Web Journalism, Radio Journalism, Photojournalism, Cooperative Media and University Journalism. Articles published between June 1, 2022 and August 31, 2023 are eligible to participate. The winners will be announced on November 30, at an event at Wish Serrano Resort, in Gramado.
In all, R$ 75,000 will be divided among the winners, R$ 10,000 for each professional category and R$ 5,000 for the university category. Registration is free and can be done at the link Each author has the limit of submitting up to three works, regardless of category, and may win in just one.
