Trancista Thais Medeiros, hospitalized for six months after having an allergic reaction to the smell of pepper, has infections that have hindered her rehabilitation, as revealed by her mother, Adriana.
The woman said that her daughter would undergo surgery to remove abscesses this Saturday (15), however, it had to be postponed and the doctors will only return on Monday (17).
In the last procedure performed on Thais three weeks ago, specialists found internal pus and, therefore, scheduled a new surgery.
Despite this, according to Adriana, her daughter has responded well to the medications. “The only issue is her infection, which prevents her from undergoing rehabilitation”, she mentioned.
In May, Thais needed take antibiotics to fight two bacteria: one in the lung and the other in the blood. Now, with new infections, the young woman has been undergoing new treatments.
Allergic reaction
The trancista had an allergic reaction after feeling the aroma of goat pepper while cooking with her boyfriend, Matheus Lopes, in Goiás, on February 17.
She even had no neurological responses even without sedation.
The young woman has two daughters, aged 8 and 6. Although she was unable to respond, her mother recorded a video of her receive the news that the children could visit her. Thais seems to get emotional — watch below.
According to specialists, allergy to pepper is rare and, when there is this intolerance, as in Thais, there is a response with the production of antibodies against the food protein (called IgE), which generates an inflammatory process.
