In Cachoeirinha, the Municipal Department of Education (Smed) is promoting the “1st School Food Recipe Contest”, a gastronomic competition to improve the school menu. The contest, known as “Master Chef Escolar”, will have its final this Wednesday, the 12th, at Cesuca, and will have seven participants, who are cooks from municipal schools. Each of them will develop a dish during the afternoon.
jury evaluation
At 4 pm, a group of judges, made up of nutritionists from Smed, a student, the president of the School Food Council, the Secretary of Education and a representative of the Nutrition Course at CESUCA, will evaluate the dishes. The criteria analyzed will be presentation, taste, nutritional value and practicality.
The coordinator of the Department of Nutrition and School Meals (DNAE), Nara Prates, points out that a dish that meets these criteria and does not use sugar will be better evaluated, as it is in line with the nutritional and health measures that the Secretariat is implementing in schools.
Winning dish on school menu
Isabel Fonseca, owner of Smed, points out that the winning dish may be incorporated into the school menu later this year, if the ingredients used are included in the purchase that has already been forwarded to the second semester. Otherwise, the winning dish will be included in the next school year.
award
The competition awards will take place on the 26th, during the second stage of the School Network’s Training for Cooks. The winner will receive a food basket and her recipe will be included in the school menu. It is noteworthy that the first stage of training took place in May.
