A 450-millimeter-diameter water supply network broke this Sunday morning (9) on the corner of Machado de Assis and Nossa Senhora Auxiliadora streets, in the Floresta neighborhood, in Caxias do Sul. The incident caused a large water leak and damaged the site’s asphalt.

According to the Autonomous Municipal Water and Sewage Service (Samae), the rupture of the water main compromised the supply of water to 16 districts in the western region of the city. They are: Cidade Nova, Floresta, Cinquentenário, Sanvitto, Desvio Rizzo, Marechal Floriano, São Pelegrino, Medianeira, Mariani, Reolon, Charqueadas, Planalto Rio Branco, São Giácomo, Industrial, Rio Branco and Tijuca. Residents of these areas must conserve water until service returns to normal.

Samae teams have been working since early in the morning to repair the pipeline network and restore the water supply. The forecast is that the service will be completed by 20h this Sunday (9). Samae asks for the understanding of the population and advises that in case of doubts or complaints, users can contact 115, which is open 24 hours a day.
