The São Leopoldo Events Center has been transformed into an arena for battles between robots built by students from Leopoldo and other cities in Rio Grande do Sul. The II Robotics Challenge, organized by the Municipal Department of Education, brings together children and adolescents from public and private schools, ranging from Kindergarten to High School, on July 4th and 5th.
The competition has the participation of 94 registered teams, coming from municipal and private schools in the municipality, as well as teams from Novo Hamburgo, Esteio and Três Palmeiras. In addition, there are 31 projects registered for the show.
The growth of the event is remarkable compared to the first Robotics Challenge, which took place in conjunction with Motic 2022 and had 46 schools register. “I hope the challenge is fun for everyone. Winning or losing doesn’t matter. All the participants here assembled their robots and struggled. Now it’s time to enjoy and have fun”, declared Wagner Santos Siqueira Prates, professor representing Mobkits.
Robotics has been worked with students and teachers from the municipal network of São Leopoldo since 2017. “Robotics is not limited to humanoid robots. It encompasses everything that involves creation, creativity, programming, the use of LEDs, light bulbs, batteries and wheels”, explains teacher Lisiane Rosa, responsible for organizing the event.
According to the Secretary of Education, Ricardo Luz, robotics is a space for children to exercise their creativity. “The public school has the power to transform our city, state and country for the better”, he said.
