In an initiative to emphasize the importance of blood donation, employees of the Specialized Service in Safety Engineering and Occupational Medicine of São Leopoldo (Sesmt) participated in a solidarity action last Tuesday. The Sesmt team donated blood to the Hemovida blood bank, located at the Blood Center of Hospital Regina, in Novo Hamburgo.
The action was organized in partnership with the Human Resources department of the Municipal Administration Secretariat (Semad) and took place in the context of Red June, an internationally recognized month for raising awareness about blood donation.
The team that made the donation consisted of Denis dos Santos, occupational safety technician, Débora Piasseski Bechener, occupational safety technician, Vanessa da Silveira, occupational safety engineer, and Carolina Sartor Lara Monteiro, psychologist.
Denis dos Santos emphasized the importance of solidarity action, highlighting: “Our objective in promoting this donation is to disseminate culture and encourage the feeling that helping others can and should be part of our lives. We, from the São Leopoldo City Hall Sesmt team, intend to carry out this action regularly to encourage all public servants to donate blood”.
With this solidarity action, São Leopoldo seeks to make the community aware of the importance of blood donation to save lives and encourage active participation in this act of solidarity.
