The city of Caxias do Sul, in Rio Grande do Sul, is a national reference in business and event tourism, according to Embratur’s Meetings, Incentives and International Business Tourism manager, Vaniza Schuler. She was the speaker at the luncheon meeting of the Chamber of Industry, Commerce and Services of Caxias do Sul (CIC Caxias) this Monday (26th), where she presented the opportunities and challenges of this segment.
Vaniza Schuler highlighted that Caxias do Sul has a tourist profile with greater purchasing power, availability of time and who visit the city out of necessity. She stated that the focus should not only be on attracting more tourists, but on knowing how to take advantage of the opportunities they bring with them. For this, it is necessary to invest in marketing, product structuring, research and mapping of the demand and supply of corporate and leisure activities.
The Embratur executive also highlighted the importance of a permanent calendar of events to boost tourism in the city. She said that Caxias do Sul stands out for having an industrial park and scientific knowledge that attract visitors interested in doing business and connecting with local brands. She cited industrial tourism as an example, which is considered the birthplace of the region.
The luncheon meeting was also attended by the Community Committee of the 2024 National Grape Festival and the 15 candidates for the title of Queen and Princesses of the 34th edition of the event. The choice of the trio of sovereigns is scheduled for August 26th and the party will take place from February 15th to March 3rd.
The president of CIC Caxias, Celestino Oscar Loro, also defended the importance of business tourism and events for the city. In his opening speech, he said that Caxias do Sul has a quality infrastructure, but needs a modern event center prepared for the future. He stated that business tourism boosts the local economy and promotes the exchange of knowledge and experiences, strengthening the city’s image as a development hub. He praised the initiative by Embratur and the Festa da Uva in bringing information and opportunities to the sector.
