This June, the Solo de Piano project welcomes pianist Isabella Brill. She will perform at Espaço Figueira, located at the UFRGS Cultural Center (Rua Eng. Luiz Englert, 333, Campus Centro), next Monday, June 26th, at 12:30 pm. The recital will have free admission.
Born in the municipality of Ivoti, Isabella currently resides in the United States, where she is studying at Bowling Green State University with a scholarship, under the guidance of Professor Solungga Liu. Since 2017, she has participated in competitions, winning first place and the prize for best interpretation of a Brazilian play in the Cora Pavan Capparelli competition.
Before moving abroad, Isabella was a student of the Extension Course in Musical Instruments and the graduation in Music at the Institute of Arts of UFRGS, in the class of Professor Cristina Capparelli Gerling.
On vacation in Brazil, Isabella returns to the University and will share with the public of the Solo de Piano project a little of the repertoire she has been working on recently. The presentation will begin with “Noturno Op. 62, nº 2”, by Frédéric Chopin (1810-1849), and will continue with works by the Polish composer, such as “Étude Op. 25, nº 1, nº 2 and nº 9”, “Étude Op. 10, nº 1” and “Scherzo Op. 54, No. 4”. The program will conclude with the “Sonata Op. 28, nº 3”, by Serguei Prokofiev (1891-1953).
About the Piano Solo
The Solo de Piano project is a partnership between the UFRGS Cultural Center and the Graduate Program in Music at the UFRGS Institute of Arts. Created in 2019, the project is curated by Professor Ney Fialkow. It consists of monthly recitals, always held on the last Monday of the month, at Espaço Figueira at the UFRGS Cultural Center, which has a Kawai grand piano.
The aim is to provide a moment of listening and contemplation amidst the bustle of the University’s central campus, in addition to creating a space for the public to get in touch with the work of postgraduate piano students at UFRGS, as well as possible guests from other educational institutions. The project has the support of Person Pianos and the Medical Foundation of Rio Grande do Sul.
