Sao Leopoldo, RS – Representatives of the Civil Defense of São Leopoldo and the Civil Defense of the State of Rio Grande do Sul met this Tuesday, the 20th, to begin the process of surveying the damage caused by the recent cyclone that hit the region. The meeting took place on the seventh floor of the Administrative Center, where officials discussed the necessary procedures and worked together to calculate the damage caused by the weather phenomenon.
The visit of the Deputy Coordinator of the Civil Defense of the State of RS, Sergeant Cássio Telechi Moro, aimed to guide and assist the city hall of São Leopoldo in the initial damage assessment process. The report resulting from this assessment will be essential for the Federal Government to ratify the decree of public calamity and assess the need to transfer resources to the affected region.
The city hall of São Leopoldo has a period of 10 days to present the report, counting from the beginning of the climatic event, which occurred last Friday, the 16th. Therefore, a task force was established to act in the affected areas , with the aim of identifying the number of homes damaged and estimating the approximate value of the damage. In addition, an assessment of damage to public buildings will also be carried out.
The meeting was attended by important authorities, including the superintendent of Civil Defense, Paulo Borges, the technical coordinator of Civil Defense, Fabiano Camargo, the municipal attorney, Paulo Röhr, the director of the Department of Works and Transport (Semov), Paulo Kumer, the superintendent of Urbanism, João Henrique Dias, and the administrative director of the Secretariat for Security, Diego Camboim de Souza. The union of these entities demonstrates the commitment and mutual collaboration to face the challenges arising from this calamity situation.
The population of São Leopoldo and the entire state of Rio Grande do Sul awaits the results of this survey, which will be fundamental for taking measures and helping the affected communities.
