This Thursday (15), Campo Bom will host a very important and unprecedented debate. The 1st Municipal Conference on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities will be held at the City Council, from 8 am to 6 pm.
The purpose of the event is to provide a space for dialogue and reflection on the challenges faced by people with disabilities, seeking to encourage the creation of public policy proposals. Based on the number of registrants, the conference is expected to be productive as 168 people have already confirmed their attendance in advance.
Mayor Luciano Orsi points out that the high number of registrations demonstrates the interest of the Campo Bonense population in creating an increasingly inclusive city. He points out that the objective is to work for a better, more accessible municipality for all, and therefore, it is important that not only people with disabilities participate, but the entire population, so that each one understands how they can contribute to make this possible.
According to Gabriel Colissi, municipal secretary of Social Development, the conference will be a moment to broaden the debate. He points out that expectations are the best, since the council for persons with disabilities was recently installed and, now, with the first conference being held, it is time to go further and create increasingly inclusive public policies.
The central theme of the conference is “Current and future scenario in the implementation of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: Building a more inclusive Brazil”. The axes that will guide the debate have already been defined as: I. Strategies to maintain and improve social control, ensuring the participation of people with disabilities; II. Ensuring access to public policies; III. Financing of public policies; IV. Law and accessibility; and V. Challenges for universal communication.
The event is organized by the Municipal Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Compede), with the support of the City Hall. Those who wish to attend the conference but have not yet registered can do so on Thursday at the City Council.
