The government of Amapá declared this Saturday (13) a public health emergency situation due to the outbreak of flu-like illness among children.
The Children’s and Adolescents’ Hospital, in Macapá, registered overcrowding at the Children’s Emergency Room.
According to the government, until this Saturday afternoon (13) 162 children were hospitalized with severe acute respiratory syndromes. Of this total, 29 were intubated in ICUs.
“We declare a public health emergency. We are increasing the number of ICUs, vaccination campaigns and oxygen reinforcement in the units. We call on families to vaccinate their children at vaccination age”, said the governor of Amapá, Clécio Luís.
