The Newton Macedo Choir Meeting will take place on May 21, at 5 pm, at the Evangelical Church of the Lutheran Confession of Brazil – IECLB (Rua Júlio de Castilhos, 2340) in Taquara. So far, seven choirs have confirmed their presence. Among them, Coral União from Estância Velha, Associação Coral from Portão, Coral Luizinho from Novo Hamburgo, Coral Municipal from Igrejinha, Coro Júlio Kunz from Novo Hamburgo, Coral Viva a Vida from Faccat, Coral from IECLB and the Maestro Newton Macedo Municipal Choir.
Mayor Sirlei Silveira highlights the pride of being able to offer free cultural moments to the community. She also thanks conductor Alex Barbosa and everyone involved in organizing the event.
The participating choirs will present varied musical repertoires. The Municipal Choir, for example, will perform songs like “Sina” (Djavan/ arrangement: Alexandre Zilahi), “Deep River” (American Spiritual Song/ arrangement: Carolina Wiethölter) and “Desgarrados” (Sérgio Napp and Mário Barbará/ arrangement: Manuel Abreu).
The event is free and open to the community. It is carried out by the Municipality of Taquara, through the Municipal Department of Education, Culture and Sport (Smece), with the initiative of the Board of Culture and the Municipal Choir Maestro Newton Macedo.
