The historic edition of the Joinville Dance Festival, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary, broke the enrollment record. The organization of the event received 4,658 registrations of choreographers to participate in the next edition, which will take place between July 17th and 29th.
In the Competitive Exhibition, 3,028 works were registered; on Open Stages, 1,089; in Meia Ponta, 458; and at Festival 40+, 83. The previous record belonged to the 2022 edition, which had 4,246 entered choreographies.
Participants from 24 Brazilian states and the Federal District signed up to take the stage in Joinville. São Paulo leads the ranking with 2 thousand registered choreographies, followed by Santa Catarina (640), Paraná (442), Rio de Janeiro (409), Minas Gerais (356) and Rio Grande do Sul (179). In addition, there are submissions from dancers from five countries besides Brazil: Argentina, France, Paraguay, Portugal and Switzerland.
The selection of the companies that will perform will be made through a selective video. The files will be evaluated by a panel of judges with five specialists from each genre. The results will be announced in the groups area on the Festival website on May 4th. Companies with approved choreographies will have until May 18 to confirm their participation.
