The 1st SUCESU-RS Executive Seminar, with the theme ‘Experience and relationships in the digital age’, took place in Porto Alegre on April 13th. The event inspired reflections on relevant issues in the world of technology. The highlight was the lecture by Diego Barreto, Vice President of Finance and Strategy at iFood and author of the best seller ‘Nova Economia’. He spoke about how IT companies must face new paradigms and challenges. The artificial intelligence and GPT Chat features, which have been controversial, were also discussed.
The event brought together more than 100 (one hundred) IT Managers to reflect on content, trends and changes in the IT market. For Nilson Ayala, President of SUCESU-RS, this is one of the most important moments of the year, mainly due to the choice of theme. “We need to increasingly see the need for the relationship factor in the digital world, because users expect it, they want experiences. This is the characteristic of the new economy, and I believe we were able to connect this very well in the lectures throughout the day”, he highlighted.
The New Economy Scenario
Diego Barreto, with more than 15 years of experience in the market working with national and international companies, invited the participants of the Seminar to reflect on the New Economy. The author of the best-seller on the subject presented the concept and provoked the public: ‘every nuisance generates reflections and brings value to thought’. According to him, IT companies also need to think this way.
The main change that Barreto pointed out was in the logic of the connected society, which must be observed from an economic point of view. Now, it is necessary to create and make more accessible technologies available, since it is digital technology that drives the new economy. In addition to changing the logic of access, which becomes massified, this also expands the possibilities for creating new businesses.
The keynote stressed that all this change should not be interpreted negatively by companies, on the contrary. According to him, despite the annoyance that traditional companies feel, it is necessary to begin to understand the process of competitiveness in the convergence of multiple technologies in order to be able to gain capacity to gather data and a higher level of management.
Artificial Intelligence and GPT Chat
The 1st SUCESU-RS Executive Seminar also promoted the panel “Artificial Intelligence in Business: Reality X Fiction?” with Fabio Machado, Head of Innovation at Panvel Labs – Panvel Group, Marcelo Manoel, IT Director at Arezzo&Co Group, Alex Winetzki, Founder and CEO of Woopi Stefanini, and Kelly Sganderla, Senior Process Innovation Consultant at iProcess. Mediation was provided by Pedro Martini, IT Director at Lojas Colombo.
Marcelo Manoel highlighted the importance of acting so that people remain in control of AI, not the other way around. Pedro Martini recalled that this topic is not new: he has been studying AI in college for 31 years, but the GPT Chat has made the subject gain more audience. Alex Winetzki, on the other hand, brought a perspective on how this technology has transformed even professionals: what used to take a developer a week to solve, is now done in a day, so the border between a junior and full professional has diminished.
Winetzki also warned of the fact that artificial intelligence has no ethical standard, which Kelly Sganderla agreed with and added: ethical bias should be the main concern at this time, defining guidelines for using the information made available by AI.
The Seminar also featured lectures on cybersecurity, hyperautomation, the “zero trust” concept, among others. The event ended with a cocktail that promoted yet another networking moment, characteristic of the SUCESU-RS community. The next Executive Seminar will take place from September 14th to 17th, in Bento Gonçalves (RS).
