The 50+ Field Football Championship 2023 starts this Sunday (16) in Novo Hamburgo. There will be 12 teams, divided into two groups, with six teams each. Those registered for this year’s competition are Canto do Rio, which is going in search of the second championship, Guarani, Tamoio, Portuguesa, Hamburguês, Farroupilha, Veterano, 11 Gaúcho, Flamengo, Estrela, Liberdade and Santo Antônio.
For Secretary of Sports and Leisure (Smel), Daniel Becker, this year’s edition will have a leap in quality compared to 2022. “The teams are more structured, with athletes who played last year and also with reinforcements for this year. The trend is for the championship to raise the technical level and move up in terms of organization and infrastructure”, he analyzes.
The first phase will be played in a single shift, in which the teams from the same group will play each other. The top four teams from each group qualify for the next stage.
For Smel’s Sports director, Dieizon Rech, the promise for this year is a great competition. “I believe that we already had a great championship last year in terms of organization and technical level of the teams. This shows that we are on the right track and expectations are for great games”, he points out.
