Diego Fumero was a youth athlete for Juventud de Torremolinos, in Spain, and an exchange student in Malaga.
Spanish football dawned in mourning this Friday (7). Diego Fumero, a 19-year-old athlete from the Juventud de Torremolinos youth team, died during the early hours of the morning of a heart attack while he was sleeping. The club confirmed the death in a statement on social media.
“Today is a very sad day for our club. Diego Fumero, our youth team player, passed away. [Fumero] recently arrived at the club, having come to study in Malaga, coming from Tenerife”, wrote the club, in a statement published on Twitter.

According to Spain’s Diario Sur, Fumero was at his family’s home in Tenerife. The athlete enjoyed the Easter holiday with his family and died in his sleep.
President of Juventud de Torremolinos, Alain Patrick, said that Fumero was “a noble, calm, cheerful boy and a very good companion”.
