The Arte na Caixinha Cultural Contest is an initiative of the Dairy Industry Union of Rio Grande do Sul (Sindilat/RS), with the support of Tetra Pak, and carried out in partnership with Smed from Pelotas, Embrapa Temperate Climate, Núcleo Jersey de Pelotas, Sicredi, Biscoitos Zezé and Rural Association of Pelotas. In this edition, 191 works were in dispute, which were carried out by children from Pre II to 5th grade, 63 of them in Kindergarten, 79 in Junior and another 49 in Juvenile.
According to the executive secretary of Sindilat/RS, Darlan Palharini, the event closes the first stage of the initiative, which proposes the use of different craft and artistic techniques in UHT milk boxes, exploring the theme “Milk in your life”. “The expectation is that between the months of May and June we can start the second phase of the project, with new schools involved. We understand that this action is very positive, as it involves children, families, teachers and public bodies. And seeing the little ones interacting with the contest is the apex”. For the general manager of Embrapa Clima Temperado, Roberto Pedroso, it is a pleasure to participate in a project that goes beyond research. “We reached society and the children’s segment, taking a beautiful message from the agro to them”.
Mayor of Pelotas, Paula Mascarenhas, points out that the project reveals the milk production chain to children with an educational and artistic bias at the same time. “We want to maintain this partnership with Sindilat/RS. Our schools reacted very well to this provocation. And we are looking forward to its sequel.” A sentiment also shared by the Municipal Secretary of Education and Sports (Smed), Adriane Silveira, who reinforces the importance of the contest “including knowledge of life in the curriculum of schools”.
Winner of the Youth Category with the work A Fazenda, Quevelen Castro do Nascimento, says that she enjoyed the experience of making the drawing and that she “felt emotional” when she won the contest. She is a student at Emef Núcleo Habitacional Dunas. Daniele Costa Gonçalves, who won second place in the category with the work Fazenda Genoveva, says he learned how the milk production process works by watching the play “Na Fazenda Doce de Leite”. She is a student at Emef Núcleo Habitacional Dunas.
