In the early hours of Monday, April 3, the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) and the Military Brigade carried out Operation Sossego. The objective of the action was to monitor and curb loud noise in vehicles traveling through the city. The blitz took place on Rua da Praia, in the Rio dos Sinos neighborhood and resulted in the removal of a vehicle to the depot accredited by the Detran. The driver did not have a National Driver’s License (CNH).
The agents performed a drunkenness test with an ethylometer in all approaches. In 37 approaches, 25 infractions were registered, generated by drunk driving, refusal to carry out the breathalyzer testdriving without a driver’s license or vehicle documentation, among others.
The secretary of Public Security and Community Defense, Giselda Matheus, spoke about the operation. “The Guard had already received about 20 calls to denounce the disturbance of peace on Rua da Praia, so we decided to organize a task force together with the Military Brigade to put an end to the problem. We were very pleased that we were able to restore order for everyone, ”she highlighted.
The general director of GCM, José Carlos Pedrozo, spoke about the high demand and the integration with the Military Brigade. “We are aware of the demand for disturbing peace in these places and we do our best to respond. On the weekends, we always have a lot of demands, but we strive to be able to act in these places, even when we need to deal with other important events. In this sense, working together with the Military Brigade makes the difference for us to be able to handle the service. We will continue working to proceed with operations”, he clarified.
