The Municipal Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply of Caxias do Sul (SMAPA) informs the schedule of meetings to discuss the Municipal Plan for Rural Development (PMDR) in the interior communities. The meetings begin on April 10th, in the Criúva region, and continue until the month of May (see below), always at 1:30 pm, in the community halls.
The publicizing of the meetings is being carried out in partnership with the deputy mayors. “It is an important moment for the participation of people from rural areas, who can expose their personal and also collective needs, whether in health, transport, housing, education, agriculture and roads, among other issues”, highlights the Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply in exercise, Fernando Vissirini Lahm dos Reis.
The PMDR must present a rural development proposal for the municipality, considering the economic, environmental, social, cultural, educational and health aspects, covering a longer term scenario, for example, 10 years. The Caxias do Sul plan is based on a survey carried out in rural communities, census data and demands gathered together with institutions linked to the agricultural sector through participatory methods.
The objective is to diagnose the rural environment outlining work guidelines for the sustainable rural development of the municipality. The Plan has been debated since 2017 and should guide actions aimed at rural areas in Caxias do Sul by 2026.
The main guideline of the Municipal Plan for Rural Development of the municipality of Caxias do Sul is to be a guiding instrument of public administration. In addition, it highlights basic sanitation in rural areas as an instrument to promote public health, regional articulation in the development of agricultural activities, sustainable development, permanent planning and carrying out actions articulated with the Municipal Master Plan, among other aspects.
The PMDR has a management group made up of representatives from SMAPA, Emater, the Rural Union, the Union of Family Farm Workers, the Municipal Council for Rural Development, Samae, and the municipal departments of Planning, Health, Education, Public Works and Services, Public Security and Social Protection, Tourism, Environment, and Economic Development and Innovation.
