The 2nd Sapiranga Police Dog Tournament takes place this weekend, March 31st, April 1st and 2nd, at Parque do Imigrante. The competition already has 42 dogs registered.
K-9 units or Dog Police units perform critical work in search, rescue, drug detection and patrolling services. All these skills are among the tests of the tournament.
Dogs representing Uruguay’s K-9 Unit (5 dogs), Federal Highway Police (5 dogs), Brazilian Army Police Battalion, Civil Police, Military Brigade, Criminal Police and Nova Hartz Volunteer Firefighters participate in the event. In addition to the competitors, the judges are also visitors and come from Uruguaiana, Santa Maria, Porto Alegre, Osório and Santa Catarina.
In all competitions there will be prizes:
1st place – trophy, windbreaker jacket, t-shirt, collar, 1 bag of feed and certificate;
2nd place – trophy, t-shirt, 1 bag of food, and certificate;
3rd place – trophy, t-shirt, certificate;
The tournament takes place at Parque do Imigrante and public access is free. It is only necessary to respect the perimeter of the tests, so as not to disturb the performance of the dogs. Check the schedule:
