A 243rd Porto Alegre Fish Fair was launched this Sunday, the 26th, at Colonia Z5 dos Pescadores, on Ilha da Pintada. In its 243rd edition, the event will be held at three points in the city: from the 3rd to the 7th of April at Largo Glênio Peres and from the 5th to the 7th of April at Restinga and Belém Novo (Extremo-Sul).
Tradition has gained strength with decentralization: the two fairs that join the one in Largo Glênio Peres have been taking place for some years now: the 21st Feira da Restinga, on Esplanada da Restinga, and the 11th in Belém Novo, in the Far South.
The Fish Fair is organized by the Municipal Department of Local Governance and Political Coordination, through the Institutional Coordination Board, and has Colônia Z5, APPSUL and Fish Wholesalers as partners.
According to the municipal secretary of Local Governance and Political Coordination, Cassio Trogildo, the launching of Feira do Peixe is characterized by cultural and craft effervescence, which adds to the work of fishermen.
“By taking over primary production, as one more arm in the Governance Secretariat’s activities, I can closely monitor this income generation work that stimulates the economic activity of fish professionals and the production chain of this important area”, he says.
