As of Monday (20), 15 Kindergarten schools in Viamão will receive a nursery class, serving children from 1 to 2 years old. According to the Viamão Municipal Department of Education (SME), more than 160 children will be assisted full-time, from 8 am to 5 pm. Each class will have a teacher and an assistant, totaling 10 children per room.
The little ones will receive four meals a day: two snacks, lunch and dinner. The professionals called to welcome the children underwent a psychotechnical test and received training from the Department of Education’s Early Childhood Education Advisory team. Training is being held at EMEI Mariquinha, in Augusta, a school that will start with two nursery classes.
Viamão’s Secretary of Education, Marcia Culau, accompanied the beginning of the training. “It is very gratifying for me to be present in these two unique moments of management. One, in 2015, with the beginning of Kindergarten in Elementary Schools, and the other now, with the beginning of Nursery in Kindergarten schools. We are going to provide greater preparation for integral development from a very young age, in an environment conducive to this reception, making a difference in the lives of the families served”, says Marcia.
According to the Child Education coordinator, Josiane Baldez, the first 1,000 days of a child are essential for their development. “The first 270 days are gestation and the other 730 days are until the baby completes two years of life. Here, we will also stimulate the babies’ motor skills, starting with larger objects until they develop fine motor coordination, which is the ability to perform more precise and delicate movements, such as handling objects, painting and drawing”, explains Josiane.
There were months of preparation so that, next Monday, schools can welcome the little ones. Eleven new schools were built and EMEI Mariquinha was expanded. The teachers were called in a competition and are receiving training. “It is a new challenge for us and we want to do our best”, concludes the Secretary of Education.
