After complaints from neighbors, the Municipal Department of Animal Protection of São Leopoldo (Sempa), in partnership with the Environmental Defense Group (GDA) and the Civil Police, carried out an operation against mistreatment in the Campina neighborhood.
This Monday, March 13, a 32-year-old man was arrested red-handed for beating a dog under his guardianship. Due to the physical situation of the animal and the confirmation of three witnesses, the man was arrested and taken to the 2nd Police Station of São Leopoldo. The dog was collected by Sempa where he will receive the necessary treatment until his recovery.
Complaints
Reports of abandonment and mistreatment can be forwarded to the Civil Police or even to the Municipal Civil Guard by phone 153. Sempa only accepts complaints that have an Occurrence Bulletin, which can be made at the 2nd Police Station of São Leopoldo or via the internet.
